    Tubertini Eurocasting Beach

I use multi tip rods in my day to day shore match fishing armory but there was a gap I needed to fill in my rod collection, I have been looking for a slim , long and light multi tipped rod but it had to be 14ft minimum , the search for this rod proved a lot easier said than done until a quick phone call from Ian Houlton from Moonfleet Angling informed me of the new slimline Tubertini rod coming out onto the market, I had searched the foreign tackle catalogs for months and had been disappointed with a special order Colmic rod that looked superb but when it turned up it was a very cheap blank with even cheaper fittings with a top end price, a waste of money as it gathers dust in the fishing room.

Abu Garcia 7000i C3 CT Mag High Speed

Having already ran a number of 6500's into the graveyard, and not really got on with either of the Sealine SL20/30SH SLOSH's for beachwork. I eventually turned back to the fixed Spool Big Pit power reels in the form of the Emblem from Daiwa. I guess the biggest factor was I just couldn't give the abuse to the Abu 6500's as I could the 7000's I used afloat. Don't ask me why, I'm not [wasn't] one for constantly stripping out a reel and giving it a single dab of Rocket Fuel here and a tweak there - I just want to go fishing.

    New for 2010 - ABU Atlantic 484
    RRP 179.99

    History of the Abu 484

Way back in 1969, I had just turned 2 years old and Peter Bagnall had just taken delivery of a new Abu Atlantic 484 prototype salmon rod that was to take the Shore Angling World by storm with a new styled Zoom Cast and later see the introduction of a true Pendulum cast in excess of 200 yrds by Nigel Forrest.

The Original Abu 484 sported hard Chrome rings, a then 'space aged' duralumin* butt and robust metal ferule. Thick walls supported the powerful butt section that could produce casts in excess of it competitors. However, the overall finish has been described a 'Heavy' but clearly this was a very effective rod. ...

    Nash Backpack

The Nash Backpack was created with the roving Carp angler in mind. The backpack is very compact, but at the same time the 3 tiered compartments allow for a very decent load to satisfy even the most demanding of Shore Anglers. The detailing that enhances the comfort and support of this midi sized backpack is unrivaled and something that allows the Nash Backpack to stand head and shoulders above its competitors. The large Sturdy Zips and extra strong reinforced webbing first catch the eye but there's much more to this backpack:

    The Three Bears Syndrome

Too Small: If the Backpack was to small it would be hopeless as the shore angler requires a wide range of tackle and support items such as a Jacket, Torches, Drinks, Food and a full range of terminal tackle and enough leads for the day. I also like to carry Camera equipment and need a 'Safe & Dry' area for things such as my Ipod and Mobile! Doesn't everyone.

Too Big: If the Backpack was too big I'd find a way of filling it, I know thats true - I have a full sized Backpack that somehow I can get more tackle in than my faithful Blue Shacky Box. The large 'Bergen' style packs a better for invading foreign lands than they are for Shore fishing duties. The only time I'll use a 'Big Un' is if I have large Bulky clothing such as a floatation suit in winter [which you should avoid walking long distances in]

Just Right: The Nash Backpack fits this bracket for sure. There are two full sized compartments and one smaller one that's designed to fit the Anglers Nick Nacks. The inner pockets are ideal for securing the mobile phone, a hook for the car keys [brilliant] and 3 pen like holding loops that would hold a Gemini Style T Bar, some baiting needles or the likes of. The larger sections are ideal for Jacket, Reels, box of Leads, rig wallet etc. Both are the same full height and width with one that is approx 6 inches deep and the other about 4 inches deep. You'll still get 2 or 3 Tronix winder boxes, in the 4 inch middle compartment. Storage Sorted. ...

    RodWrap 2XL Salt Water

I recently completed a review on an MTI 15lb Off Shore boat rod. I loved the blank, the way it fished along with the thin butt section and progressively powerful blank. I did however find the butt diameter to be too thin for me [no need for comments, please] This was not immediately noticeable but as the session went on it became apparent I was looking for a more comfortable way of holding the rod.

I used the rod a number of times and concluded I had to do something about the Butt Section. I like to play a bit of cricket and I always get a few looks from anyone who picks up my bat - in the way I use 4 or 5 handle rubbers. It allows me to play with softer hands but doesn't seem to get me anymore runs. Anyhow, I decided see if adding a few rubbers would work on the MTI Off Shore? ...

MTI 15lb Class Offshore Boat Rod

Mike Thrussell and the MTI Team produce just 2 Boat rods, so you’d expect them to be spot on given the teams’ passion for Sea Fishing and producing tackle items they’ll ultimately use themselves.

Taking the rod out of the cloth bag for the first time reveals an ultra slim black blank with matching whippings. The 9 intermediate Fuji Alconite BMNAG rings and Fuji Alconite BMNAT tip ring complete the exclusive use of Fuji components which also includes a screw down reel seat and rubber end cap on the Butt Section. The Butt section is finished with a diagonally hatched black shrink wrap.

Ever since I first saw a Kelly Kettle on A passion for Angling, I've been interested in getting one.

    It's probably worth explaining what a Kelly Kettle is at this point, in case you haven't seen one yourself;

Often referred to as a Volcano Kettle, for reasons that will become apparent, a Kelly Kettle is a stainless steel kettle that boils water from a self-contained fire. Legend has it that it was developed the Irish Ghillies. The beauty of it is that it is always available to use (no running out of gas!) and is extremely efficient. ...
