The World Junior Championships Portugal 2010
England take Team and Individual Silvers but the medal haul could have been much bigger but for a difficult last day. The brave England Juniors battled all the way to secure a great result in the World Junior Shore Angling Championships 2010 held in Grandola, Portugal between 29 Mar to 2 April 2010. The squad put everything they had into the 4 days and came so close to Gold having put themselves in a dominant position going into the final day.
With the results in, just 1 point separated 5 of the competing six teams - the Gold really could have gone anywhere - it was the Italians who took the top spot following a very nervous weighing in period. England had returned a final day 6th were any other result would have secured Gold, the lads had however fished as hard as they could from a desperately difficult draw.
England's Silver was a fitting reward for the efforts of all concerned. The Team were Coached & Managed by Chris Clark and Andrew Dawkins and consisted of Steven Rathbone, Dan Stote, Michael Dawkins, Callum Graham and David Morris. Well done Lads, no doubt some stars of the future there and a double well done to Steven Rathbone on his Individual Silver.
