ShoreAngler.co.uk aims to provide up to date fishing reports, reviews and news from both Boat and Shore around the UK Coast line. We also hope there will be the odd holiday snap of members and guests with the obligatory Tuna, Barracuda or Even Marlin for those lucky enough to enjoy such sport.

The site has two areas, the main website that offers informed reviews from the Shore Angler Team and Guest Field Testers taken from the second area - the Shore Angler Forum.

The site is owned and maintained by Angling Designs, a specialist Angling Web Design and Web Hosting service.

    by Peapod

When top Scottish Rod Alan Combe, maestro of the north east coast gives you a call to say the fish are in, you can’t ignore him, to do so means you run the risk of missing out on some prime time cod action so with a purple day on the cards, we despatched our man in Scotland, correspondent Pete Foster to meet up with Alan and a couple of his mates from this years World Championship Shore Squad, Lindsay Wilson and team manager Drew Higgins.

    Bass Fishing with Jonner
[from the original tread by shoreangler member Jonner]

    Power Station Outlets

    KIT NEDDED

A simple spinning rod say8-11ft and a bait runner reel this will be explained later. Tronix pro weighted float or bubble float. Some 8-12lb fluorocarbon line and lure of choice...here's some/raglou sandeel/any other imitation eel will work too. I use braid on my reel for one reason only and that is to cut the cross winds and it does not droop into the water.

    Pflueger President Fly Reel

My Salt-Water Flyfishing isn't my strongest point, but that said, it has to be one of my most enjoyable aspects of Sea Angling in the summer months. I have however found the large 10# lines and large fly / lures difficult to turn (as a fly angler might say!)

Enter the Fleet at Portland. A flat bowl ideal for wading and has a good number of Bass at the right stage of the tide [I'm not giving that bit away, but like I said it's good for wading - have a go at wading during the wrong part of the tide and you'll get wet, hint hint]

    Boat: Venus
    Port: Mevagissey
    Skipper: John Arthur

    Summer Mevagissey Whiting

I recently joined a friend John for a day out on one of the Mevagissey Charter boats ‘Venus’ skippered by the ever popular John Arthur. Like all of the Mevagissey Charters the skippers have to work hard to make the business work and take a rotation of 4hr & 8hr charter trips along with 2hr Macky trips and 30min trips around the Mevagissey Bay.

Booking is easy enough via the Quayside tackle shop ‘The Mevagissey Shark & Angling Centre. For those on Holiday down there and without tackle you can get an all inclusive package for about £55 for your rod hire, the trip and a big bag of goodies with a number of weights, snoods, conger traces, feathers and soft plastic lures for Pollock. For those with tackle the trip will set you back a very reasonable £45. You can book via 01726 843 430 and ask for a trip out with Venus & John Arthur.

We joined up with Dave Kirk and the Enterprise out of Portishead on the Upper Bristol Channel with a simple objective of catching a few Cod.

Over the last years the Cod fishing in the Upper Bristol Channel has been a little less than hit or miss. Stories of Huge Fat winter Cod have become few and far between, now visitors to the Portishead Shoreline in hunt of a winter Cod bonanza are almost as scarce as the fish themselves.

The Autumn of 2010 witnessed an early run of 3lb-5lb Cod for the Bristol Channel based Shore Anglers, reports of fish were consistent between the iconic Severn Bridges. Indeed, many marks in the upper reaches had good numbers of Cod on the 'right' tides.

With happy customers the Charter Skippers enjoyed a good few weeks and catches of 30+ fish quickly became the standard, plenty of Cod for the table and as many fish to return to the ever coloured waters.

MTI 15lb Class Offshore Boat Rod

Mike Thrussell and the MTI Team produce just 2 Boat rods, so you’d expect them to be spot on given the teams’ passion for Sea Fishing and producing tackle items they’ll ultimately use themselves.

Taking the rod out of the cloth bag for the first time reveals an ultra slim black blank with matching whippings. The 9 intermediate Fuji Alconite BMNAG rings and Fuji Alconite BMNAT tip ring complete the exclusive use of Fuji components which also includes a screw down reel seat and rubber end cap on the Butt Section. The Butt section is finished with a diagonally hatched black shrink wrap.
